Almost 50 years ago, NASA had a major problem with Apollo13 which it needed to resolve as quickly, efficiently and cost effectively as possible.
The solution was to slingshot around the moon, taking advantage of the most efficient trajectory back to earth. By simulating all the available options they were able to save not only time and money, but also lives.
The ability to be able to produce simulations in design is vital – be that towns and cities infrastructure, vehicles and transportation or supply chain systems. The issue has been that the technology to produce simulations is expensive, and as such, only the major market players have previously had access to them.

Slingshot Simulations is a spin-out from the University of Leeds and is the result of over 10 years of R&D. Our journey involved developing large-scale computing solutions for some of the world’s largest companies.
